What I learned in Anthropology

I know right! That will be so useful for when I become a doctor! I'll be able to treat all of my patients with compassion and be sensitive to their backgrounds and differences.

I LOVED learning about dialects in the U.S and the socioeconomic effects of linguistic bias. It was something really close to me because so many of our family and my friends face discrimination for the way they speak. I learned that it's heavily connected to the certain groups that are most heavily discriminated in the U.S. It's unfortunate that this happens but it was still really cool to learn about how the country's diversity is reflected through the ways we express ourselves differently across geological, social, cultural, and economic boundaries.
