Elijah or Elias Eliyyahu (in Hebrew) was a renown and worshiped prophet in catholicism. The Bible related that he denounced and protests against kingdoms and foreign cults and defeated over 450 prophets of different beliefs such as Baal in a contest on a historic site known today as Mount Carmel.
The Elijah's Promise is an act that comes from a passage in the Hebrew Bible where the prophet Elijah is called by God to stay with a widowduring a severe famine. Sojourning in a region with his people in Israel, The widow asks Elijah for food and water.
Elijah was hungry and thirsty in the wilderness during rallies, and during fasting. He had no support from his fellow israelites/ jews (depending on the beleif of the person telling the stories). His fellow prophets were killed. His message was rejected. He was upset
idol worshipers and priests that Elijah would protest against would pray to the Gods of their beleifs such as Balaam, but Elijah would pray and pray until he was tired to who he seeked assistance from, God Almighty.
God saw the work that Elijah had done for his people (Isrealites) and was proud. He let Elijah know that he would deliver the next time he was needed and asked Elijah to right the idol worshippers.
Whoever answered by fire would be the true God. After hours of prayer, cutting themselves and weeping, the Baal worshippers received no answer. God had delivered his promise tp yet another one of his servants.
