Montag, are you happy?
Montag is just an ordinary firefighter until he meets a teenage girl named Clarrise. Clarrise was different from everyone else in their society, and asked Montag a question he never really thought about before. She asked, "Montag, are you happy?" for the first time, this made Montag actually sit and think about the world around him.
When Montag was out doing his job, something unusualy happened. The owner of the house they were ordered to burn down was still home. Because of her loyalty to books and knowledge, she ended up buring with her books instead of living. This event traumatized Montag.
After Montag decides that he wants to learn more about books, he heads over to Faber's house to gain knowledge. Faber and Montag then create a plan to try and "save" society with books.
After Captain Beatty handed Montag a flamthrower and told him to burn his own house down, Montag be came extremely angry.. With Beatty continuing to egg Montag on, Montag ends up shooting the flamthrower at the captain and killing him.
After being chased down stream by the hound, Montag meets up with a bunch of other runaways. These individuals are all extremely intelegent and believe strongly in the power of books.
The city is bombed to the ground after getting attacked shortly after a war started. Montag and the his compainions were all outside of the city, and watched the whole are get destroyed.
