- Hi, my name name is Lucinda.  I live with my mother and my step-sister, Yeh-Shen. We live in a cave outside of the village and it can get very lonely.  My main problem in life is that Yeh-Shen gets so much more attention. She's not even mother's real daughter. Yeh-Shen is abused by my mother. I don't know why she hates her so much, but I have to come up with a plan so the spotlight will shine on me.
- Why does mother always give Yeh- Shen so much attention. I know she needs to keep an eye on her, but why can't she ever spend time with me?
- Work Yeh- Shen !
- Later that day I went outside to think. I need something that will make me the most special girl in the kingdom. Then, the solution hit me like a train. The festival, the one that was held every year so that girls could find their future spouse. The king was going to be there, and he was of age.  If we got married,  my mother would have to pay attention to me. I just have to make sure Yeh- Shen doesn't get in the way.
- I have to find a way to make my Mother pay attention to me.  I know, at the festival! I'll catch the  king's attention. If we get married Mother will have be proud of me
- I immediately put my plan in motion. I made a dress out of the finest materials I could find. I did my hair in a bun and put on the makeup mother lets me use only for special occasions. I also made sure that Yeh- Shen was safe at home. I got to the festival, and I saw the king, sitting in his regal looking throne. I needed to make him fall for me.
- Finally, this is my one chance to Impress the King
- My plan was working out beautifully until a beautiful girl in a shiny silk dress arrived. My anger turned to fury as soon as I saw her face. She resembled Yeh-Shen so much I almost shouted at her to go home right away. However, before I could do any of that, I saw the king's face. He looked deeply in love, but he wasn't looking at me.  
- She's pretty!
- Is that beautiful girl Yeh-Shen? 
- All I heard about for the next three weeks was a hunt for a beautiful maiden who had lost a tiny shoe. I knew it was Yeh-Shen. When Mother took me to try on the shoe, I could even get it over my heel. The only girl in the whole village who hadn't tried it on  Yeh-Shen. When I found out she was to be married to the king i cried myself to sleep. Yeh-Shen made it up to me however by inviting me to her wedding.
- It has to fit on my foot.
- The Wedding Day
- They are such a happy couple. I will miss Yeh-Shen, but she  always pester me about the cave being unstable. She is so paranoid!
