- The Mayans would use the splash-and-burn technique so ashes can be nutrients for future crops.
- Warfare probably caused famine because they participated in war

- The Peregrinus maidis spread a disease to the most important crop called maize.
- The Howler Monkey had a disease that was transmitted to mosquitoes and other hosts.
- This theory was probably caused by famine because the splash-and-burn agriculture might have caused diseases and also caused crop failure.
