Hi, my name is Sarah Miller and I'm the Executive Director at Tiny Earth. I coordinate the beautiful and intricate network part of Tiny Earth. Now, I am going to tell you how I got to where I am now.
As an undergraduate, I entered a unique transition point in my life. I worked in the Plant Pathology Department with a program called Wisconsin Fast Plants Program. My professor was Paul Williams, an important figure in my life who I fondly remembered using cute little plants.
At the point in my life where I had to apply to graduate school, no school would even talk to me. I was extremely lost and didn't know what my next move was going to be.
Sarah, I'd like you to meet my good friends, Caitlyn Allen and Jo Handelsman. They are great scientists and can help you be apart of something great.
Mr. Williams helped me when I was alone and needed it most, he is someone who is very important to me and I can't thank him enough.
Together, we created a group called Issues in Life Sciences Education. This is where we'd talk about teaching and learning issues in STEM.
And that all leads me here. Currently I work with Tiny Earth and we are trying to achieve the goal of discovering new and improved antibiotics to solve the antibiotic resistance criss so we can help out the beneficial bacterias. It involves students and even teachers learning and changing science education and its curriculum for the better!
