The government forces tally to hunt her down. truth: While spying on the rebels, Tally falls for a rebel named David and learns the terrifying truth: the "pretty" procedure inserts lesions in the brain to destroy free willending: after the government raids the rebel camp, Tally volunteers to undergo the surgery herself. She sacrifices her mind so the rebels can use her as a guinea pig to test a newly developed cure.
