- Hello. I am Yeh- Shen's stepmother. I do not like Yeh-Shen because she is much more beautiful than my daughter. Apparently she's been keeping a secret from me, she has a fish in the pond that I did not know about.
- What!!! How dare she keep that from me!
- Mom! Have you seen Yeh-Shen’s fish in the pond!
- To teach Yeh-Shen a lesson from keeping things from me I decided to kill the fish, her only friend. Buy I went to the pond the fish was smart enough to hide. I needed to come up with a plan to kill this fish.
- This lady is crazy!
- Where is that dang fish!
- I told Yeh-Shen to go get firewood but to leave her filthy coat here so that the neighbors don't see her. I hoped that with the coat the fish would come to me.
- Go and collect some firewood but leave that filthy coat of yours here!

- Yes ma'am.
- When I went outside with the coat on the fish came right to the surface. I knew this was going to work! I went closer to the pond and the fish came to me. I pulled a pair of scissors and stabbed the fish, I planned on cooking it for dinner. After that I must take my daughter to the festival to be married off.
- This is what she gets for keeping this from me!
- Yay im gonna get fed- uh oh..
- Mom doesn't that look like Yeh-Shen!?!?
- I told Yeh-Shen she was not allowed to go to the festival, but when we got there everyone's eyes were on one person. My daughter got a look at them and said that it looked like Yeh-shen!! After she said that the person seemed to run off but they dropped their golden shoe. I didn't care though, I ran home to see if Yeh-Shen was still there. She was it looked like she had fallen asleep hugging the fruit tree.
- It better not be!!
- The prince was going around checking to see who the golden shoe fit. It did not fit her but it did for Yeh-Shen! She moved into the castle with the prince but left us behind.
- Yeh-Shen's step-mother and step-sister were later killed in a rock falling.
