- I chose the part in his fathers letter that talks about his motorcycle accident because I think it's a very important part. In the letter, it mentions that both him and his father loved being reckless, which could have led to the accident. "Somewhat reckless and speed crazy with motorcycles and light cars. But since he has had a good taste of what speed will do, and his both legs Broke & hip injury he now has slowed down on that I'm sure" (Capote 128). I think this shows that Tex also has an understanding of being reckless and doing stupid things at certain points in your life.
- From this letter, I chose the part where she described her children. I think this is a very important part of her letter because it shows some of her normality. She is Perry's only normal and successful sibling. So I think when she gives information about her children, it shows how her life is compared to all the other siblings. Also, going along with the third scene, it shows that her main goal is to get some attention from her father, and she thinks having kids and being successful will do that. A portion of her letter says, "I hope I'm wrong & I sincerely hope you will give this letter a lot of thought & try to see- how someone else feels" (Capote 140). I think this shows that she's trying to get Perry to understand why she's made her life the way it is, which is to be more seen in the eyes of her father.
- "'I love Dad and have tried so hard to live so he could be proud to own me as his daughter. But I have had to content myself with the crumbs of his affection. Because it is you he loves, and why should it be so?'"(Capote 144). This is a quote Willie-Jay used in his analysis of Barbra's letter and I think this is one of the most important things he mentions. This shows that she has purposely tried to have kids and have a job and be successful so that possibly her dad would recognize and show her love, rather than all of it going to Perry. So I have made this Storyboard to show her having healthy kids but still not being satisfied because her father still is concerned about mainly Perry and how envious she is.
