2- No! We want it!
In 1724, the Cherokee signed a treaty with the British agreeing not to trade with France. As a result of this, the Cherokee believed that it was a way to show equality between the two. They saw it as an opportunity to trade and for protection (an alliance), while the British saw it as a way to further their superiority and rule.

After signing the Cherokee/British treaty, there were 30 years of peace between the two. They worked together and traded, but this peace ended years later. During this peace, the British traded with the Cherokee keeping them happy, with the idea that they had now made an alliance. Although during this time the British didn’t protect them, there was no conflict between the two.

After 30 years of peace, the British fail to protect the Cherokee when the French unite with the Cherokees Indian allies that attack them. The Cherokee believed that the British would be there to protect them, but are disappointed when that fails to occur. The French and Indian war was a war that was the French and Indians against the British. They were fighting over the unclaimed land and it was where the 13 colonies united for Britain, which ultimately meant the Cherokee were involved and right in the middle of it.

Yay! We have more land!
Once the French and Indian War began, the British failed to protect the Cherokee leading them to feel cheated by them. The Cherokee believed that because of the treaty they were now equal with the British, but were wrong. The British still saw themselves as superior and in the Cherokee’s true time of need, did nothing. This leads to the Cherokee being really mad.
The Cherokee
Oh no! What arw we going to do?! Where are the British?
Let's get 'em!
The French and Indians
After feeling cheated by the British, the Cherokee decided to take British possessions such as horses and weapons. This leads to the British retaliation sparking a war called the Cherokee war (which lasted 2 years). All the Cherokee with their home-made tools against the British with their guns. This leads to the death of many Cherokee and the victory of the British.

After losing the war, the Cherokee were forced to give up much of their territory. The treaty that ended the French and Indian War then forced the Cherokee to give up quite a bit of their land. It also created a boundary dividing the South Carolina colony and the Cherokee territory.
