Oh my! Where did this rock come from?! I almost injured myself.
Rocks are origanally molten rocks that come from under the Earth's surface.
YOU CAN TALK???
I am only talking to explain to you the rock cycle. Okay, let's continue! There's a lot more to learn.
Mica and her dog were playing outside their house. They decided to run around, playing catch. Mica was too focused on running from her dog that she tripped over a pebble.
Are we near a volcano right now? This is weird but okay, I'll listen.
As I said, rocks start as molten rocks or magma. When molten rocks cool below the Earth's surface, intrusive igneous rocks are formed.
She was talking to herself when suddenly, her dog replied to her rants and starts explaining where rocks come from.
And when it forms at the surface?
Yes! After that, weathering and erosion break down the igneous rock into sediments. As successive layers of sediment settle on top of one another, the sediment near the bottom is compressed, hardens, and forms sedimentary rock.
She was too shocked to process the information that her dog told her.
What's after sedimentary?
After sedimentary rocks, they turn into metamorphic rocks with heat and pressure. It turns back to magma when melting happens.
Mica and her dog teleport to a place near a volcano. She continues to listen to her dog like it's a normal thing.
They get back to the backyard and the dog explains how an igneous rock turns into a sedimentary rock through weathering, erosion, compacting, and cementation
They move on to how sedimentary rocks turn to metamorphic rocks and metamorphic rocks back to magma.
