- The main charcter Kelly was at the libary trying to figure out what she wanted to do for her project at school. She was a bagman who was always sitting at the libary and started to interview him but she wasn't being serious about it. All of her friends were laughing including her and the bagman never said a word to her and just wanted to be left alone

- "'How come you want to be my friend? Is it some joke you and them other kids thought up?"' (86)

- After many days of Kelly trying to talk to Mr. Weems, the bagman, he sat with her my a pond and fed some ducks are talked to her. This made Kelly really happy but she was in shock that he finally spoke to her.

- " But it was too late, I'd already seen the bags scartered on the road, ripped open, Mr Weem's belingings spilling out on the asphalt. And something else, a body on a stretcher, a man covering it with a blanket, rolling it toward the waiting ambulance" (148).
- As Kelly and her dad were driving home from the library she found out that Mr. Weems had been hit by a car. Later we found out that he jumped in front of the car. He was kicked out of the Libary and had no where else to go during the day other then just walk around town.
