After one of the neighbors told everyone what goodman does at night, everything got worse. After the argument, everyone surrounded goodman's house watching him. this shows that this is the theme because it caused negative arguments. This is the theme because after Charlie killed one of the neighbors, everyone was scared of him. Charlie's house light when on and everyone started chasing and hurting Charlie by throwing rocks at him. Everyone's house light went on and all the neighbors started running and shouting blaming each other due to how scared everyone was. This shows how blaming and hurting each other makes things worse with negative consequences.
