We all grew up in a museum, with people staring at us every day. It was owned by this way-too-enthusiastic rich lady who would goggle at us all the time and called us "oddities." Emma was there because she was Black. Ginkgo was there because she had red hair. Fred was there because he liked math and was the youngest. But her favorite was me--an Asian girl with a prosthetic arm.

I'm tired of being treated like an artifact. We should run away.
Hmm... interesting idea. Maybe we should. At night, when the museum closes and there aren't any witnesses.
Run away from Miss Scarlet? But why? She's so nice. She said I was special yesterday!
But where would we go? And what if we get caught?
Fred, I hate to say it, but that was a lie. She thinks we're all weird and just wants to show us off to her rich friends and make a profit. We should go to the glassblowing wing and take the stairs down to the sculptures. An elevator would attract too much attention. We'll go to the sushi restaurant she always eats at. It seems like a trustworthy establishment, and I've memorized the address.
