The moon grew closer after getting hit by a meteor. The small town is stunning and in awe, everything all of a sudden changes.
Chapter 16 (Life As We Knew It)
Whilst Alex is asleep, the moon gets knocked out of orbit. His uncle Jimmy comes to tell him to get out of bed. He informs Alex and his sisters all about what was going on.
Chapters 17-18 (The World We Live In)
After endlessly searching for Brianna, Alex and his sister Julie find her dead in an elevator. Their sickly sister who was always there to help, was gone. Now all who are left are Alex and Julie.
Chapter 7 (The Shade Of The Moon)
Miranda walks in for her daily check-in with Mrs. Nesbitt, only to find her dead. Her beloved neighbor who has taken care of her now reduced to a sleeping sould.
A sudden change of weather separates Alex and Miranda as Alex goes in search of his little sister Julie, and Miranda's little brother Jon.
After Jon tried so hard to get Julie to love him (physically trying to get her to kiss and cuddle with him), she ran into the storm and was swept up by the tornado, paralyzing her.
