Sometime when when having troubles or being sad the best thing to do would be to take a nap. A lot of times not having enough sleep can have negative affects on mood.
Listening to music can be very good for bad days. Music usually can help to not be as sad. Music can be very uplifting.
I find that when being stressed out or upset it can be very good to exercise. Whether its lifting weights or going for a run it can greatly improve mood.
Watching a good T.V show or movie is always a good way to keep my mind busy. When Sad or stressed just watching T.V may not take away the troubles being had but will at least keep it off my mind for awhile.
Sometime the best way to solve troubles or stop being sad is to just face those problems being had. This may be the hardest option but sometimes it's only one. Maybe discussing the problems with others will help. Another way could be doing it alone whether that's through taking action and doing something or just thinking through problems.
Eating food can be very comforting sometimes. It can increase energy and improve mood. Eating a favorite food is pretty much always an enjoyable thing to do.
