- Later that night, Bob decided he needed to go for a run as running always clears his head. As he finished his first mile, he kept thinking about James and how he could help, if he could help. Lost in his thoughts, he almost misstepped and rolled his ankle on the curb. As he looked up, he saw his older sister, Cindy, talking to James. “This is not happening… this is not happening!” he said as he gritted his teeth. Bob asked “Cindy, what’s going on here?” James responded, “None of your business.” Bob replied, “Apparently it is my business as you are talking to my family.” Bob looked over at Cindy, “I’m not sure what’s going on here, but if there is anything fishy, just say no. You don’t want to get involved in anything that is going to mess up your perfect grades… just say no.” Bob once again shook his head in disbelief and continued on his run.

- As Bob finished mile 5 of his run, he noticed a police officer writing a ticket for a car that was illegally parked in a handicapped stall. As he inched closer and closer, Bob got an idea. An idea that he hoped would be the beginning of James getting the help that he needed. Bob starts talking to the police officer and says to him, “Officer, my friend is dealing and doing drugs. I’m trying to help him, but he is refusing to listen. He needs help before it is too late. Is there anything that you can do to help?”

- The next day moved quickly. Bob found out that a detective named Sergeant Billy was meeting with him to discuss the situation regarding James. Bob was surprised when he met Sergeant Billy as he wasn’t in uniform. He was wearing faded buckle blue jeans, an Aerosmith t-shirt, and New Balance running shoes. After some small talk and further discussion, Sergeant Billy handed a recording device to Bob and explained the plan to catch James actively selling the prescription drugs.
