Romeo Kills Tybalt, Juliet's Cousin
"And for that offence Immediately we do exile him hence." (3.1 185-186)
Romeo and Juliet have fallen in love with each other instantly, it is their love that makes up the entirety of the play. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, they are suppose to hate one another due to the family feud but Juliet believes Romeo is her one true love. This quote is important because it shows despite their families rivalry her love for Romeo is much stronger which brings on a lot of challenges later on.
The Friar Suggests That Juliet Fakes Her Death
"That copest with death himself to scape from it; And, if thou darest, I'll give thee remedy" (4.1 75-76)
Their secret marriage is important because, if it wasn't a secret it would have prevented the children's death and Juliet would not have been forced to marry Paris. It is important that Juliet proposes the idea of marriage and that it happens the next day because it shows how rushed the two of them are and it foreshadows more trouble to come regarding their marriage.
Conflict Occurs in Friar's Plan
"Condemned villian, I do apprehend thee. Obey, and go with me; for thou must die" (5.3 56-57)
Tybalt gets in a duel with Mercutio, Romeo try's to break it up. Tybalt kills Mercutio and as revenge Romeo kills Tybalt. This scene is what banishes Romeo from Verona and won't be able to see his wife without being killed. The Prince banishes Romeo from Verona rather than traditionally exiling him for killing Tybalt. He will later regret sending Romeo out of Verona because Juliet wouldn't have faked her death to be with him again.
The Conclusion: What all These Events Lead To
"As rich shall Romeo's by his lady's lie, poor sacrifices of our enmity" (5.3 303-304)
Juliet is unwillingly being forced into a marriage with Paris and by faking her death she would not have to marry Paris. This plan is important because it leads to a series of deaths later on. His plan is for Juliet to drink the potion and be "dead" for 42 hours, once in the tomb Friar will give her the remedy and Romeo will be waiting for her. This quote is important because it's what introduces the idea of Juliet faking her death.
This is a majour moment because when Romeo does to comit suicide next to Juliet "dead body", he finds Paris at the tomb. Paris believes that Romeo hates the Capulets so much that he is willing to vandalize Juliet's grave even after killing Tybalt. Paris threatens to fight/kill Romeo and he takes in the challenge. This leads to Romeo killing Paris then killing himself. Juliet awakens to find both of them dead and also kills herself.
Lord Capulet and Montague along with the Prince gather and relies that all of this meaningless fighting has lead to the death of their only children. This quote is what makes the 2 families decide that they need to reconsile because they have already lost so much with nothing to gain from it. It took the love and death of 2 teenagers to bring their families together.
