Oh no! I heard a rumor the King George III and their stupid Parliament is making us pay taxes!
Ohhhhhhhhh noooooo!
This is horrible. This is why we left England. Why are they doing this to us?
They didn't even ask us.
Did you guys hear about these Acts they passes without us?
I know why! It's because the war was too expensive leading to debt. They need money somehow! It's not cheap paying for battle supplies, and all that.
I heard one of them is the Sugar Act. They want us to pay taxes on sugar, coffee, wine, and even cloth.
There's even a Stamp Act where we gotta pay taxes on any legal document like newspapers, insurance policies, and even playing cards.
We have to pay taxes on tea, lead, paint, glass, and paper brought from Great Britain. They call that the Townshend Act.
No taxation without representation.
This was devastating for them. The Americans already hate when the British have say and control in what they can and can't do. Many people smuggled tea. So, for them this was a big deal. And the last straw. The King was worried about the grumbling among the colonist.
The king demands for you to stop with the grumbling!
Who cares about that stupid King?
