- (opens letter) What do you expect me to do with that?
- proof- i had a lot of trouble getting itProof- Everyone wants an invitation only a few are reserved for employees
- I got you something sweetheart. (gives letter) I worked hard to get this for you!
- The wife does not seem to appriciate the amount of work her husband put into getting her this letter.
- Proof- I have no evening dress and so i can't go to the party
- I dont have anything to wear to the ball. All i have are my old run down dresses.
- The Wife is being ungreatful for what she has and wants to spend money they dont have on a new dress.
- You have so many dress that you look beautiful in. We could try and find you a nice dress to wear.
- 1) A new dress will only cost 400 francs and i can borrow accessories from a friend.
- 2) Yayyyy thank you so much honey!! I just didn't want to be embarrassed at the ball
- That's a lot of money sweetheart but i guess we could splurge a little bit
- Proof- he went a little pale after she said 400 francs
- The Husband agrees to spending extra money to please his wife even though they barely have enough to make ends meet
- The two start freaking out becuase the dimond necklace costs much more than they have to spend and if they cant find it they'll have to pay for it

- 2) Oh No?!?! The necklace It's gone

- If the wife would've been fine with her old things none of this would have happened. She wanted things she didn't need.
- proof- she saw the diamond necklace could you lend me this one- just this nothing else
- proof- Mathilde! Mine was false. It was worth five hundread francs at the most

- 2) well the truth is that we've been trying to pay off debt for the necklace we lost of yours a couple years back
- 1)I've been pretty well. You seem to be working hard
- 2) that silly necklace was worth 500 francs
- Over a few years the couple had to pay back debt for the necklace and the girl realized if she would just been fine with what she had compared to things she wanted. Her husband and her would've been living happily.
- The wife learned a very good lesson that day. She learned that needs are more important than wants. An wants can lead to bad things in the future
- so that means we've spent many years paying for something woth 1/4 of what we payed??
