This is an image of St Ignatius as a soldier in the early stages of his life when he was a fierce and respected soldier of the Spanish army. He was respected by many people including people of other armies due his remarkable bravery, unwavering loyalty, and an inspiring level of courage that set him apart from others.Him being in the army changed his life because he wouldn't have gone on to create the jesuits if he was struck by a cannon ball.(1509 to 1521)

The Pilgrimage of St Ignatius began in 1522 in Loyola, Spain, after Ignatius was badly injured in battle. During his long recovery, he read books about Jesus and the saints. This inspired him to leave his old life behind and travel to Montserrat and Manresa to pray and reflect. The pilgrimage changed Ignatius deeply—he decided to live a life serving God, which later led him to start the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
