- Jefferson Davis and Robert Lee decided the best way to end the war was to include the north. confederate/Union Forces fought major battle at antietam creek.

- At the Battle of Antietam, six thousand soldiers were killed in just one day . Lee retreated to Virginia, but to Lincoln’s disappointment, Union leaders did not pursue his forces.

- The confederate forces were on a better side of a hill to the point that the Union Force were ambushed. about 6000 people were killed on both sides.
- West Woods the Union soldiers kill their own and can’t see through the smoke of the shooting to know.Piper Orchardis a 30 minutes of fighting and their numbers drop from 181 men to 80. Confederates are able to take Union guns from dead soldiers – better weapons.
