At first, the man was chasing her because he wanted to catch her. When he finally caught her, he tied her up, and she screamed, desperately wanting help. The man then took her inside the house, and she felt an intense fear as she noticed the twins watching her. She was terrified of them.

She entered a room and saw a woman standing there. The woman started chasing her, but fortunately, Hilary managed to escape. She ran into the hall, hoping to find the children and protect them, but before she could reach them.

She entered the room but found it empty. She was about to leave when she heard screams coming from outside. Terrified, she followed the sound to see who was in danger.

As she moved through the house, she noticed that other rooms were open. Strange noises were coming from within, but she was too afraid to enter. The sounds were unnerving, and her fear grew stronger. Then, she heard the noises again, this time coming from downstairs. Her heart raced as she nervously made her way toward the sound.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she found nothing. A wave of fear washed over her, and she quickly ran back upstairs. She knew she had to go back to the open room she had avoided earlier, but her fear was overwhelming. Still, she gathered the courage to enter.

What she saw shocked her: a woman holding a bloody knife. The woman turned slowly, and when she saw Hilary, she started to chase her. Panicking, Hilary ran to the twins' room and locked the door behind her to protect herself from the woman with the knife.

Once inside the room, she slid down the door and cried, overwhelmed by fear. But then, she noticed something strange: a cookie had appeared under Andrew's blanket. This puzzled her, and she began to suspect that something wasn’t right. She spoke aloud, “So, it was Adam who stole the cookies.”

To her surprise, Adam crawled out from under the bed and said, “No, I swear it wasn’t me. The man with the gorilla mask was Mr. Mitchell, and the woman in the room was Mrs. Mitchell. It was all part of the plan.

They were trying to make you think something dangerous was happening. Mr. Mitchellwas supposed to leave the knife near you to make you panic and free yourself.”

Hilary’s mind raced as she processed what Adam was saying. She realized it was all a Halloween prank. “You mean… this whole thing was a trick?” she asked, still in shock.
Adam nodded. “Yes, we were just trying to scare you. It’s all part of our Halloween celebration.”

Relief flooded through Hilary as she understood that there was no real danger. Her fear began to melt away, though she still felt a little embarrassed about how terrified she had been. She let out a nervous laugh, shaking her head. “You really got me,” she said, wiping away a tear. “Next time, maybe a little less drama?”

As Hilary stood up and took a deep breath, she realized how much she had overreacted. Halloween had gotten the best of her, but she was just glad it was over. They had all been playing a game, and there had never been any real danger. She smiled weakly, glad to be alive and to know she had made it through the trick with her nerves—mostly—intact.
Adam chuckled. “We’ll keep it a little less intense next time. I promise.”
