- The battles were short and bloody encounters. They were seldom lasting more than one day.

- Patients were strapped and held down when in need of medical attention or surgery because there was nothing to numb the pain. Many died from the shock of surgery.
- Prisoner of war camps
- More than 50,000 ,men died here. There was no supplies to live and the smell was horrible.
