- Ho Chi Minh claims he’s just a patriot fighting for his home, while Diem insists he’s the world’s shield against communism. It’s a head-on collision between a local revolutionary and a global crusader, leaving the country caught in the middle.

- Ho Chi Minh stands before a massive crowd and uses the United States' own words to declare Vietnam free from colonial rule. He’s basically telling the world that if these rights apply to everyone else, they have to apply to Vietnam too. It’s a bold move that turns Western ideals into a weapon for his own revolution.

- Diem, a strict Catholic, pushed the Buddhist majority too far, leading to massive protests and monks setting themselves on fire in the streets of Saigon. These shocking images went global, making the U.S. realize that their "man in Vietnam" had completely lost the support of his own people.

- McNamara treated the Vietnam War like a math problem, believing that superior technology and high body counts would eventually force a win. By the time he realized that human willpower couldn't be measured on a spreadsheet, the U.S. was already too deep to easily get out.

- The US was patrolling the Gulf of Tonkin. The U.S. claimed Vietnamese boats attacked them unprovoked. Two days later, they reported a second attack.

- Operation rolling thunder was the operation in which American planes attacked North Vietnam. The planes dropped over 800,000 tons worth of bombs.

- The Tet Offensive is the event in which North Vietnam Attacked America. They did this to make them stay back from the Vietnam War

- The French thought they were safe in their base, but the Viet Minh shocked everyone by hauling heavy artillery up sheer cliffs by hand. This battle was the ending moment for French rule in Vietnam, proving that a determined small force could actually crush a major military power.

- U.S. leaders were worried that if Vietnam fell to communism, the rest of Southeast Asia would collapse right along with it like a row of falling bricks. This Domino Theory" s the main reason the U.S. pumped troops into the region they weren't just fighting for one country, they were trying to stop a chain reaction
