- Gleiten: 1
- The Pearl by John Steinbeck begins with Kino, Juana, and Coyotito, a happy family. In the morning, however, Coyotito is stung by a scorpion, and the family does not have enough money for a doctor.
- Gleiten: 2
- With no other solution, Kino goes diving for a pearl, hoping to turn it in for money. While diving, Kino finds a big oyster, and when he cuts it open, he finds a pearl bigger than any other; The Pearl of the World.
- Gleiten: 3
- Kino's pearl attracts a lot of attention. The doctor is now willing to help Coyotito, and villages become very interested. However, in the night, Kino attacks and intruder trying to steal his pearl.
- Gleiten: 4
- No! This pearl is too large. No one will want it.
- The next day, Kino and Juana decide to sell their pearl. They consult four dealers but all of them reject the pearl or offer very little, saying that the pearl is too big and will lose its color.
- Gleiten: 5
- Juana! We need to run!!
- The next morning, Juana tries to throw the pearl back into the ocean for the bad luck it was causing but Kino stops her. At that moment, and intruder enters their house, and Kino rushes to stop them. In the chaos, Kino kills the man and is forced to flee.
- Gleiten: 6
- Kino quickly realizes that trackers are following his family and after multiple attempts to escape, Kino finally confronts the trackers. He kills two of the trackers but one escapes and kills Coyotito. When they arrive home with a dead Coyotito, Kino and Juana throw the pearl back into the ocean.
