  • We want the Apartheid to end.
  • In 1652 the Boers moved to South Africa. When they moved to South Africa the British government was in charge of them. South Africa became a white-ruled nation but most of the population was people of color.
  • Revolution
  • In the 1960's the South Africa government introduced the homeland policy. Which set aside areas for each racial group. Schools dinners and jobs were all segregated. By law non-whites could only get low paying manual job.
  • Recovery
  • They created an organization called the ANC. They organized marches and strikes against the Apartheid. Nelson Mandela was arrested and was still setting up protest. Countries started boycotting South African goods because they wanted the Apartheid to end.
  • In 1976, thousands of black African children marched through the towns to protest the used of Afrikaans in school. When the police showed up they got violent and opened fire on the children. Killing two and injuring many others. In Sharpeville police opened fire and killed 69 black Africans in a peaceful protest.
  • President F.W de Klerk put a ban on the Apartheid and legalized organizations like the ANC and others that got ban. In 1994 South Africa held its first all race election and Nelson Mandela was elected president.
