- I just found out that carbohydrates are mainly stored as glycogen in liver and muscles.
- You won't believe what i've just dicovered !
- That's interesting, please elaborate.
- First, the glucose molecules is converted into the active form UDP-glucose which then enters the liver to be stored.
- But, what if there is no existing glycogen?
- inside the liver, UDP-glucose is added into an existing branches of an existing glucogen molecules
- Then a protein called glycognin acts as pre-existed glucose
- That's great, how about regulation?
- it occurs when the blood glucose level is low
