- Ponyboy reads the letter sent by his buddy, Johnny. Ponyboy then realizes that it's too late to tell Dally. Because Dally was dead.
- (Says in his mind) How can I tell Dally now, he's dead.
- Dear Ponyboy, I asked the nurse to give you this book so you can finish it. Remember Ponyboy, Stay Gold, Ponyboy, Stay Good and Pure. Sincerely, Your buddy Johnny.
- Ponyboy then Remembers the night of when Dallas (Dally) died. And Ponyboy remembers what Dally always wanted.
- Ponyboy now decides to write about his life for his English essay assignment.
- I'm gonna write about my life for my essay assignment.
