Alex had just gotten home from class and checked his email. He opened the link inside and saw that his first draft was graded. He had not done as well as he hoped. Initially surprised, he bathed in anxiety. Eventually, he went back to view his original essay alongside the rubric and assignment sheet, and noticed that it did not fulfill many of the requirements. He realized that the feedback on the bottom of his rubric was true.

Alex's bestie provides comfort and reassures him that he is capable of completing his essay. She tells him that it may be best to rework the majority of the essay, since he did not succeed. Christine excels in English, so he takes her advice to heart. She helps him to overcome his doubts, and invites him to her study session later that day. At that session, she teaches him some healthy study habits.

Alex writes his final draft.
Wow! Christine was right. Once I locked-in for a few hours I finished quickly. It only took an afternoon to complete, and I was able to enjoy coffee too!!
Alex starts his final draft in the library because it is quiet, and there is a Starbucks nearby. Instead of doom-scrolling social media, he actually focuses for once. He quickly realizes that research is fun once he gets deep into it. The hours fly by as he works. He ends up finding it hard to stop. He is proud of himself once he wraps up, as he put a lot of elbow grease into it. As he drives home, all he can do is smile :)

Alex submits the portfolio.
Although I struggled, I passed over my mountain of anxiety. By reviewing the textbook, and incorporating feedback on my mistakes, I grow as a person.

A few days later, Alex rereads his essay, allowing him to have a fresh perspective. He emails his professor to clarify his remaining questions. Then he went back and proofread for grammatical errors. Satisfied with his final draft, he compiled the portfolio and double-checked that everything was there. At long last, he submitted the assignment, knowing he had tried his best, and learned something new along the way.
