Unknown Story

The story opens up at the house of Dr.Sadao Hoki , a highly Japanese surgeon and scientist who studied medicine in America. He lived with his wife Hana , two children and his servants.
.One day from the veranda , the couple saw a man being violently flung to the beach by a wave. They rushed to help the man , afraid that he might be a fisherman in trouble . As he turned thye noticed that he was not a Japanese. He was an American , a prisoner of war who had escaped.
Seeing his state , neither Sadao nor Hana had the heart to hand him over. Sadao successfuly removed the bullet from the man's back. Over the next few days , Sadao and Hana nursed the man, but were otherwise cold towards him.
Sadao decided to come clean with the General and told him about the solider. The General could not allow Dr. Sadao , the best surgeon to get arrested , He offered assains to kill the white man and dispose the body. Doctor agreed to the plan and waited for three days but no one came.
On the the fourth day Sadao decided not to take any further risk. He told the young soldier who had now regained strength to take his boat and row to a little island .

Dr.Sadao arranges necessities like food and clothing till he finda a korean fishing boat which could rescue him.Dr. Sadao wonders why he had saved the life of an enemy.
