- Mr. White wishes for 200 pounds from the Monkey's Paw but his son dies in order for the son's company to grant him with the 200 pounds he wished for.
- Mrs. White wants Mr. White to wish for their son to return to the world. But Mr. White doesn't want to wish for anything else after the death of his son.
- Mrs. White can't reach the door and Mr. White doesn't want to help his struggling wife. Also Mr. White is looking for the paw to un-wish his wife's wish.
