- Our biology class just ended and it was a lot of fun learning about the endocrine system.
- IKR!! We talked about so many things, but one hormone really struck me.

- THE GROWTH HORMONE!!
- mhm....I really enjoyed learning so much about it during the lecture
- Yeah!!In our lecture, we learned about its hormone function.
- It also increases the rate of protein synthesis in the skeletal muscle and bones, triggers the liver to produce insulin-like growth factor, and stimulates other tissues like the adipose cells.
- The growth hormone promotes the growth of body tissues.
- Then, the growth hormone will travel throughout the body through the bloodstream, looking for target cells. It will stimulate adipose cells to break down stored fat, fueling growth effects. It will also increase the uptake of amino acids from the blood and enhance cellular proliferation and reduce apoptosis. It also stimulates the liver to break down glycogen into glucose, also fueling growth effects.
- It starts with the release of growth hormones. The hypothalamus releases growth hormone - releasing hormone and this hormone stimulates the anterior pituitary to release the growth hormone.
