  • 1. When an incident occurs that requires first aid, Security Guardforce members who are trained in first aid (and has a valid/In-date certification) are required to attend the injured person.2. If the first responding Security Guard is unable to take the grab bag, ensure that the second responder brings the grab bag to the location of the casualty.3. In cases of minor injury to be locally treated, relocate the patient to a quiet, private room (which should be pre-designated).
  • Check for further danger and ensure personal safety, for example: electrocution, falling objects, moving machinery, toxic smells, etc.2. If the injury requires suture, the casualty is unconscious, displaying/reporting possible stroke, appendix, or cardiac signs or symptoms, or the injury is thought to be in any way serious, ensure that a colleague immediately calls the EMS. If alone, or if in doubt, make the call personally.3. In a multiple casualty event, quickly prioritize (Breathing, Bleeding, Burns & Brakes) and treat accordingly.4. Administer appropriate first aid, if qualified. If there is no available First Aid-Certified person on the Security Team, the Security Guard will comfort the casualty and escalate to their supervisor or the ACS Business Assurance Center (BAC).5. Dispatch a staff member to the building access point to ensure that EMS is granted immediate building access and provide them with a guide to the incident location. As a minimum (if no one available), inform building reception.6. Comfort and reassure the casualty throughout the ordeal.7. If EAR (External Air Resuscitation) / CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) has been necessary, this will be continued (on a 30 compression/ 2 inflation basis) until - the patient responds - for AED application - or until EMS arrives/takes over. EAR/ CPR will not be ceased in any other circumstances.
