the pope called for a 4th crusade but he was embarrassed for this because they never even reached the Holy Land. instead they tried to fund their campaign by looting Christian cities along the way.

this was the effects of the crusades. the crusades were never able to drive out the Muslims so the byzantine empire was just week from fighting for so long. however the crusades did have some lasting effects.
we should attack the byzantine empire. it would make us stronger.
