- President Andrew Jackson got the Indian Removal Act of 1830 passed on Native Americans east of the Mississippi River.
- Indian Removal Act
- The Native Americans were threatened and forced to leave their homes.
- Leave or die
- The Natives were not happy and the Cherokee tribe took their case to court which they won but still were forced at gunpoint to leave.
- It took a long time to travel to the so called Native American land and they had to travel through the harsh conditions with a low supply of essential needs.
- One fourth of the population died along the trail of tears.

- The new territory was west of the Mississippi River. Many were unhappy about the new territory and loss. They thought that they were treated unfairly.
