  • born on april 10th 1905 Chick webb was not only a hunch back which made him a shorter and fell down stairs that lead to him needing surgery and he was only four feet tall, when he was eleven he started playing the drums but with his disease made him struggle to play the drums when he was older.
  • chick webb had the inspiration to start playing the drum set after his doctor suggested iit to him as a way for him to loosen up chick webb was able to starting his drumming career when he was eleven he was able to save up to buy a drum set by delivering different assortments of papers. as he got older he developed a dream to play the drums professionally and by the time he got to seventeen he was ready to pursue those dreams of playing the drums professionally and played with local concerts until finally joining the jazzola orchestra.
  • with him being so short he faced many challenges because of that. on of these challenges was being able to play fully sized drums his lack of height made it very hard in diffrent ways. through that he was shot which made it hard he was one of the most dynamic drummers out there at that time and his control of the drums was unmatched as he was very great. the cymbals of the drum he was also very good much of the bands personality came from him and his dynamicness with the ensemble and much of his solos which helped the band greatly . he also never learned to read music and just remembered the songs.
  • after he joined jazzola orchestra he left them to make his on band the great chick webb orchestra. they usually played at the savory ballroom but occasionally played at diffrent ballrooms and places.his band became very very popular due to their success in the jazz industry and battle of the bands. as they got popular very fast as chick webb's mastery of the drums. this led to his greatest hit the hit song tisket a tasket to help them grow they bring in a new hit singer ella fitzgerald and she did very very well and some speculated that chick webb adopted her but he didnt the band was just very close.
  •  chick web had many diffrent great contributions to the harlem renaissance who is remembered as the full life due to his unconquerable spirit because he never let his health problems take control of him and affect his mood he was still a very happy and upbeat. his strength through his health problems helped others stay happy as well seeing him shine even through the pain and struggles from it really shows his perseverance throughout his life
  • his health condition he had spinal tuberculous which got worse when he fell down stairs when he was young. as his life went on it got worse and worse but everyday he still showed a smile he refused to disappointment his fans even though his health condition got worse and still preformed. he played so much he got very tired after returning to baltimore for a surgery he sadly chick webb's life came to a early end on June 16, 1939, due to his worsening health condition of spinal tuberculous.
