- Minli, Ma, Ba, and the Dragon are the main characters in the book. Minli is an adventitious, brave, and fearless. Ma is worried, scared, and carring. Ba is also caring, worried, and scared. Finally the dragon is nice, carring, and he is helpful.
- Climax
- Minli had bought a goldfish from the goldfish man. Minli wanted her fortune to be changed, and then the goldfish started talking, and the goldfish said that she can go find the Old Man of the Moon and ask him how to change her fortune, so she went to go find the Old Man of the Moon.
- Falling Action
- On Minli's journey to see the Old Man of the Moon she heard a voice calling for help and when she went near the voice she saw a dragon and she noticed that the dragon was calling for help. He said he had been tied up by monkeys.
- Resolution
- Minli had been searching for a long time to find the Old Man of the Moon. Then she found him and he said he can only answer one questions every ninty-nine years. Minli didn't know who's question to ask her question or the dragons. But then she haad finally made her decision and she ask the dragons question, why can't the dragon fly?
- The Old Man of the Moon had told Minli that the dragon can fly if she removes the ball from the dragons neck. So she did and then the dragon was able to fly. When they were going back home they had seen another dragon.
- Minli had left dragon and she went back to her family. Her family was happy to see her and everyone in the town was happy to see her. Then everyone had noticed that Fruitless Mountain wasn't Fruitless it was Fruitful it was green and there was also fruit.
