- Denial: After learning the Prophecy they do their best to avoid this outcome.
- Dramatic Irony: The baby is taken away to perish but within years comes straight back.
- Cartharsis: The baby is brought to a King and Queen who cannot conceive a child.
- Tragic Hero: Oedipus makes a judgement error and kills the king and his slaves out of rage.
- Nemesis: Oedipus killed the king bringing forth the prophecy he feared most.
