- I think it's very important for teachers to encourage positive connections between students, especially in younger students
- teaching children kindness and compassion can make the classroom environment more positive and enjoyable for everyone involved
- many children only have the chance to interact with their parents before starting school, and need to be taught how to effectively communicate with others their age

- providing students with a rubric or grading scale can also help young children understand how their assignments are being graded and give them a template to follow when completing the assignment
- For example, if a student receives a score lower than a 70%, the teacher will leave a comment explaining why they scored the assignment the way they did, and what the student can improve on next time
- One of the most effective techniques I've seen in my classes so far, is teachers ability to communicate the reason for a certain score on an assignment

- younger children are motivated to learn by the rewards they will receive, however teachers should set some expectations. For example, children should be expected to pay attention and be respectful to the teacher during class, but they can be rewarded for completing extra work
- Students can easily become discouraged after struggling with a difficult assignment, or receiving a bad grade. A balance of rewards and expectations should also be monitored

- Classrooms should be an environment where students are taught to grow intellectually as well as grow as people
- Teachers should be able to adjust their methods to accomodate their student's needs. Students should be able to adjust to communicate and collaborate effectively with their peers
- Overall, the most important thing in a classroom with children of any age, is balance and adjustability
