MONSTER

Storyboard Beschreibung

The opening scene is of Steve's prison cell, and the reader learns that he is sixteen-years-old. The scene moves from the cell to breakfast in the Manhattan Detention Center with other prisoners, to the interior of a Corrections Department van, and then to the courthouse. While the trial's witnesses and the guilty verdict at the end seemed to suggest James King was the killer of the drugstore owner. The novel remains ambiguous about the role Steve Harmon played in the robbery, and whether he was truly innocent or not.

Storyboard-Text

  • People are starting to arrive to the trial of Steve Harmon and James King. The accused are sitting with their lawyers, and the prosecutor, Sandra Petrocelli, is walking towards the podium.
  • It probably depends on what you mean by win.
  • You think we're going to win?
  • But there are also monsters in our communities, people who are willing to kill, people who disregard the rights of others.
  • Ms. Petrocelli makes her opening argument, and states that Steve Harmon is a Monster.
  • If you consider him innocent now, and by law you must, then I don't believe we will have a problem convincing you that nothing the State will produce will challenge that innocence.
  • Kathy O'Brien, Steve's lawyer, makes her opening argument, and states that the jury should consider the person that Steve is before making a decision.
  • As a matter of fact, didn't Mr. Zinzi also try to use that information himself?
  • Ms. Petrocelli questions Wendell Bolden, and argues that he is a criminal that traded information in order to save himself.
  • So you saved yourself some heavy jail time by pointing a finger at Mr. King, isn't that right.
  • Asa Briggs, James King's lawyer, questions Wendell Bolden and makes him look bad in front of the jury.
  • Steve is back in his holding cell, and he tries to sleep despite the sounds of someone getting beat up.
  • I hate this place.
