  • Welcome to Virginia
  • Dear Sammy,I hope you are having a great summer! How's camp? I can't wait until you get home! My family and I are having the best time in Virginia. Yesterday we visited Arlington National Cemetery. The cemetery covers over 600 acres of land and has 70 sections, some of which are saved for future use.Did you know that Arlington National Cemetery started during the Civil War and is a burial place for people who served in the U.S. military? U.S. Presidents are eligible to be buried there, and many prominent civilian figures have been buried there as well. We visited the grave of JKF, and I thought that the Eternal Flame was cool. My favorite part of the visit was the Tomb of the Unknowns. This memorial was established in 1921 to honor unidentified soldiers who lost their lives during war. I was so surprised to learn that the tomb is guarded by a soldier 24 hours a day!Talk to you soon and can't wait to hear all about your summer!Your pal,James
