- OKAY LETS START OUT WITH WHAT YOU WERE JUST EASE DROPPING ON: YALTA
- The Yalta conference was where leaders from the U.S, Great Britain and Russia (and others) came together to "make things better" after WWII. All things were not fixed completely but at his conference, they decided to create the United nations was created. This was to maintain order so another world war would not happen again.
- Wait! Isn't the cold war between the U.S and the USSR? Why were they in a meeting together?

- SInce they had different views on economy and government, it led them to not trust each other. SInce europe was still trying to get back to normal, Stalin and his red army decided that it was a perfect idea to invade (quickly limiting civil liberties)

- At the Postdam conference, Stalin, Churchill, and Truman discussed that each side would divided up Germany and make its own repairs to it. Since the Soviet Union had different political views (communism) Churchill made the statement Iron Curtain which was a metaphor for the political division in europe
- Because the idea of communism was so scary, George Kennan created 'containment' with the goal of not letting communism spread and to keep it where it is

- This is the aid sent to europe
- The Marshal plan was massive aid program (22 billion) to speed economic recovery of European nations effective in june of 1948.
