- Walter giving Travis money for school
- In fact, here’s another fifty cents … Buyyourself some fruit today—or take a taxicab to school orsomething!
- Mama slaps Beneatha 
- If you use the Lord’s name just one more time—
- Ruth becomes pregnant and is thinking of having an abortion because they can't afford to have another kid but Walter is conflicted by this. 
- The check came in 
- Travis! (She is counting off with doubt) Is that theright number of zeros?
- Travis needed 50 cents for his school activity and Ruth denied him the money because they needed it for other fiances. Walter walked in on Travis and Ruth arguing about the money so Walter gives Travis a dollar.  
- Walter and Ruth arguing 
- R That’s what you mad about, ain’t it? The things Iwant to talk about with my friends just couldn’t beimportant in your mind, could they?
- Beneatha smarts off at Mama about god and mama takes great offense to this so she slaps beneatha.
- Asagai brought Beneatha robes from Nigeria 
- Oh, Asagai! … You got them for me! … How beautiful …
- Mama earned a check from her dead husband. The check had 10,000 dollars on it but mama's trying to decide what to do with the money and everyone in the family has different ideas on what to do with the money.
- Walter is getting tired of eating eggs and Ruth is ignoring Walter's idea of starting a liquor shop with mama's check. 
- Beneatha wanted some special robes from Nigeria and Asagai bought some on his trip and surprised Beneatha with them.
