This line means love isn't a physical thing you can use.
Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
This lines gives an example as to how love can't be used to cure you or fix the things around you.

This line uses an idiom to say that someone is dying. Even tough it says that a man is making friends with death the reader can understand that you can't actually make friends with an action. You can assume it means that they are dying.

The turn in this sonnet is shown in line 7 and 8. Throughout this poem the author discuses all the ways love is" meaningless" by explaining how it has no real value. At this point she says how even knowing these facts people still kill themselves from being unloved. The author seems to not be able to understand how meaningful love is.
I might be driven to sell your love for peace,
This line means she could be seduced into selling the love she gets if it had value.
Or trade the memory of this night for food. It well may be. I do not think I would.
The theme of this sonnet is love is painful and unescapable. She is fully aware how meaningless it truly is, but with the way humans work, we need it to live.
In this line she says how even though she believes love has no true value she still wouldn't trade their memories even for a necessity.
