- The Lovers (Lysander, Hermia, and Demetrius) are arguing over how Hermia will handle the arranged marriage between her and Demetrius, even though her true love is Lysander. This will lead to Hermia Lysander running away into the woods due to the Athenian law.
- "I do entreat your Grace to pardon me. I know not by what power I am made bold, Nor how it may concern my modesty In such a presence here to plead my thoughts; But I beseech your Grace that I may know The worst that may befall me in this case if I refuse to wed Demetrius."

- Titania and Oberon argue who will have ownership over an Indian boy in the woods. Since they're in the woods, the same location Lysander Hermia are planning to run away to, these two parallel plots will intersect.

- Lysander Hermia fall asleep in the woods together, but separate from each other due to Hermia's human modesty. Robin, a fairy servant to Oberon, find these two lovers and, because of both being at a distance from each other and Lysander having Athenian clothes, Robin mistakes Lysander Hermia for Helena Demetrius, putting the flower's nectar onto Lysander's eyes instead of Demetrius.
