The main character goes to the House of Usher and says he feels an insufferable gloom that pervades his spirit. He got a letter from his friend who is not well and wants to see him.

We buried my sister alive and I didn't say anything! That's what all that noise was, it was her all along!!
Rodrick Usher has a mental disorder, he was lying down on a sofa in a dark room, a dark room because the slightest bit of light is like torture to his eyes.
The ghost of Madeline passed the main character ignoring his presence and disappeared, he was completely astonished and felt dread.
Rodrick Usher and the main character buried Rodrick's sister Madeline in the basement of The Usher House because his sister died of a mysterious illness and he didn't want her body to be experimented on.
They hear all sorts of noises from the house, and those noises are from Rodrick's sister trying scratching and clawing trying to get out from where they buried her, but then the house starts to fall apart, everything starts collapsing.
He fled the with the storm still going and Rodrick and Madeline Usher are now dead and the house is collapsing and what's left is the leftover fragments of the house of Usher.
