- The army actually created the first rocket. Later in that year in 1958 NASA was created and they started the Apollo mission. Apollo started 1961

- Apollo 11 landed on the moon 1969. This marked that USA won the space race.
- In the same Apollo 11 mission the flag was placed. 1969

- There have been a total of 12 people to walk on the moon.
- Apollo 13 was a rescue mission where they orbited the moon to return to Earth. 1970
