Why do we need government?
Local Government
Well government helps us with many services that we cannot provide ourselves.
There are 3 levels of government, state, local, and national government
Our national government is in charge of writing laws and makes sure everyone follows all laws.
National Government
Oh! So they also protect our rights by creating these laws for citizens to follow!
State Government
What about state government? How do they help us?
The state government protects their citizens health and safety. They are also in charge of enforcing laws in the state.
What is the government in my city in charge of?
Local government provides police and fire departments, emergency services, public transportation, and public works.
So how do local, state, and national government work together?
One thing that national and state governments have in common is enforcing laws and creating them.
In conclusion, the U.S. government consists of 3 levels of government and we need government to establish authority and provision of various services.
Local government's power has to be granted by the state, however, governing bodies such as city councils and mayor are elected by the people.
Laws keep us safe, we need leaders, and help to take care of services such as roads. parks, or projects of that matter. We need government to keep the state, nation, and community in order.
