The Chorus rejoices the possibility of Oedipus soon knowing who his real parents are.
Tell me or punishment will await you!!!
Ok! I shall tell, this has gone on long enough.....
Oedipus interrogates the old man with many questions about what he knows.
Jocasta, your mother, gave you to me to give to another family to destroy a prophecy that they received about you.
The baby, as in you came from the house of King Laius, you are his son.
The old man refuses to talk, causing Oedipus to become anxious.
Why me !!! I've cursed this city
Oedipus becomes angered and threatens the old shepherd with punishment. He then begins to tell him what he knows.
The old shepherd tells Oedipus that he was given to him by Jocasta as a baby to be given away so the prophecy wouldn't come true of their family. But, instead, with Oedipus receiving this same prophecy he learns that he killed his father and married his mother, Jocasta.
But, you ended up coming back and it still happened. I'm sorry Oedipus.
In shock, Oedipus laments outside his palace at everything that he learned about his horrible life.The End
